Our Story

GOOD-GOOD, NOT GOOD-BAD

We started Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck on the streets of NYC in 2008 with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good.

Nowadays, people can spend so much time on what’s “healthy” they don’t stop to consider what’s healthy. As far as we’re concerned, happiness is healthiness.

What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs, and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that’s okay. It’s good-good, not good-bad.

Good is choice ingredients. Even if we have to go to Mount Etna to get them.

Good is simple ingredients. If it’s tough to pronounce, it’s probably tough to digest.

Good is harmonious ingredients. We seek to satisfy omnivores and vegans alike.

This is our way. The good way. The Van Leeuwen way. Not just the best way to make ice cream, but to live.

MISSION & VALUES

TO MAKE GOOD ICE CREAM THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD. BECAUSE A LIFE WITHOUT ANYTHING GOOD IS BAD.

GOOD THEN, GOOD NOW, GOOD ALWAYS

It’s probably no coincidence that we started out as a scoop truck in NYC, because we didn’t stay put. We kept going then and we keep going now; innovating, creating, never settling.

GOOD KNOWS SIMPLE IS EVERYTHING

If you can’t pronounce it you probably can’t digest it. That’s why we are obsessed with exactly what goes into our ice cream and what stays out. This is true whether it’s classic ice cream. Or vegan. Or whatever we churn up next.

GOOD ICE CREAM IS FOR EVERYONE

We don’t just want to be the best ice cream there is. We want to create the best ice cream for all.

GOOD IS AS GOOD DOES

Good means being good to our customers, our partners, and to each other. And it’s why we’re always willing to go the extra mile.

GOOD IS A STATE OF MIND

We know the importance of physical health, but equally important is mental health. If something is made good and makes you feel good then that something is good for you. Probably.
